Updated Yet Another Daily del.icio.us hack

I've updated my Yet Another Daily del.icio.us (yadd.php) so it can be called once a week. I suppose it should be called Yet Another Weekly del.icio.us... (yawd-1.0.php).

Found through my ping-backs that zman has a patch to yadd.php so it doesn't create empty entries on days where there are no new bookmarks.

Enjoy.

  1. I would love to know what you think of my own hacks to your plugin. PS. Have you ever considered using subversion to manage the changes to your work?

  2. DD, Yadd, and a load of other acronyms
You might remember I created a simple script for WordPress a few months back which, on a daily basis, will post to your WordPress weblog your del.icio.us bookmarks. I called it DailyDelicious (DD). You might also remember, that Marc Nozell updated the ...

  4. Yes, it appears to work just fine for WordPress 1.5.

  5. I agree with clark... what I really want is for my Del.icio.us links to automgically appear in the blogrolling/links collection at the right hand side of my page. And while were at it, my audioscrobbler RSS feed would look quite cool there as well.

Apparantly wordpress has some features (update-links.php) script, that are in some way related to detecting when feeds have become updated but I was really not sure how to get it working. It does not actually seem to do anything at all.

  6. Marc, this seems like an excellent adaptation to your already cool hack. don't know if you can help me, but i think i might have a permissions problem? when i hit the page i get these errors:

Warning: fopen(http://...@del.icio.us/api/posts/get?dt=2005-05-02): failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.1 401 Authorization Required in /home/elihu/movementbuilding.org/WWW/news/yawd.php on line 168
    Getting bookmarks for 2005-05-02...
Warning: fread(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/elihu/movementbuilding.org/WWW/news/yawd.php on line 176

and many more. any light you could shed would be so appreciated. great blog btw.
    yours,

  9. I am by no means a PHP expert. Just a hack at best... However, my host, Dreamhost, does not allow fopen() on remote file systems for security reasons. They suggest we use curl instead (decent tutorial here: http://blog.unitedheroes.net/curl/) Is anyone interested in adapting this awesome script to use curl instead of fopen? I tried... I failed... I suck at PHP.

  10. Jim -

I hacked the daily version of this script to work with CURL (I'm on Dreamhost too). You can check out my version if you want to adapt it for the weekly version.

  11. [...] Yes, the addition of This Week’s Del.icio.us bookmarks is a cheap ploy to make it look as though I update my blog more frequently. And, yes, it’s just a script I found on the Internet. But it works, and I’d like to think some of the things I post to my link blog will interest folks here. [...]

  19. [...] For those who noticed we’ve been experiementing on the del.icio.us feature “Daily Blog Posting” wherein our social bookmarks are posted automatically to this blog. Cool! Here’s a more comprehensive how-to. Thanks Kevin Lim. It looks generic though. Uncool! But you can try it this way with a dab of geekiness to make it nice and sweet (with pix). Get the code here (Thanks to nozell.com). More how-tos here. You can post weekly too. [...]
