iPodder GUI on Linux (debian/sarge) mini-HOWTO

I've been using the ipodder beta on
my laptop that runs GNU/Linux Debian/Sarge in the command line only mode. But over the holidays there was and update to wxpython that gets the GUI working.

This is what you need to do:

$ alien --to-deb ipodder-1.1.2-1cl.noarch.rpm
$ sudo dpkg -i ipodder_1.1.2-2_all.deb
$ export PYTHONPATH=/usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/wx-2.5.3-gtk2-unicode:$PYTHONPATH-unicode:$PYTHONPATH
$ /opt/iPodder/iPodderGui.py

and enjoy...

Cool, funky mixes

When I was hacking on a way to migrate from [blosxom](http://www.blosxom.com) to [WordPress](http://www.wordpress.org) I was hanging out in the #wordpress channel on IRC and met [drDave](http://unknowngenius.com/) who has made some cool music mixes. I've burned them into CD for the drive home and this weekend the older boys wanted a copy for their CD player. My favorite so far is retrogressive2.mpg, but drDave_MiniMix_I.mp3 is bopping too.

Check it out: [Dr Dave's Blog](http://unknowngenius.com/blog) (Hint: navigate over to the Online Empire section on the right side)

Thanks for the hours of tunes drDave!

Audioscrobbler

audioscrobbler is a neat little xmms/winamp plug-in that sends your music listening habits to a centralized server and then compares your preferences with others. Cool way to find out about new music that you might like!

It appears that this morning that their webserver is a bit overloaded and have noticed that song transitions are sometimes very slow. I'm also behind a proxy, so that may add to the overhead.
